11 PLACES
Each village has its own role: a ferry port, sheltered bay, heritage site, local food, marina or access to nature.
North
The northernmost village, with Čuna bay, marina access and the road to Punta Bjanca lighthouse.
A small village on Čuna bay, known for food, the church of Our Lady of Carmel and proximity to Sakarun.
A quiet village above deep Solišćica bay, close to Sakarun and northern island routes.
A pine-framed harbour village with hotel accommodation, moorings and a seasonal link toward Sakarun.
Centre
A historic village above the coast; Veli Žal beach lies south-west below the settlement.
The island’s vehicle-ferry arrival point, spread between Jaz and Lučina bays with sheltered moorings.
Known for the pre-Romanesque St Peregrine church and access toward Strašna peć cave.
A sheltered village on Zlatna vala below Vela Straža, with Hotel Luka and local fishing tradition.
South
A village in Žmančica bay, linked to fertile fields and local wine, cheese and olive-oil traditions.
A passenger-port village with a Franciscan complex and the island’s important marine fuel point.
The island’s administrative centre, with harbour services, fishing heritage and the closest base for Telašćica.
Zverinac is a separate nearby island administered by the Municipality of Sali; it is not counted among the 11 villages on Dugi Otok itself.
PLACE BY PLACE
A practical view of the island’s north, centre and south. Venues at Sakarun and in Verunić intentionally follow the local order used in this guide.
These venues are seasonal; check on the same day.
Gorgonia is confirmed in the official island dining directory.
Do not treat the lighthouse area as the village centre; Kargita is a separate stop.
Important: island venues are often seasonal, and opening hours, menus and availability can change without notice. A name in this list does not prove that a venue is open now; check with the venue or on a current map on the day of travel.
SEA & COVES
Besides Sakarun, the island has Veli Žal, Brbišćica and many smaller coves. Access and sea conditions vary, so the guide avoids promising an unverified ‘secret beach’.

Pale seabed, shallow bathing area and pine shade on the north-west coast.

A broad pebble beach below Dragove, facing the open sea and the islet of Mežanj.
